Antique French oil painting on canvas - White dog hunting pheasants

A vibrant and striking antique French oil painting on canvas, showing a white hunting dog approaching pheasants in a colourful wooded scene. Executed in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Oudry, a renowned French animal painter of the 18th century, with the detailed style very much reminiscent of the old masters.
Presented in a simple gilt frame, the frame of the stretched canvas is stamped with Chassis - France, 40x30, indicating it is early-mid 20thC.

Condition:
In lovely condition with no tears or holes. There are a few spots over the canvas which appear to be marks that have been touched out with later paint, but these are only really noticeable in raking light. Some tiny marks and age related wear is present. There is currently no hanging wire or hooks on the reverse, but it could be applied if requested.
