Edwardian ‘Train size’ miniature James Keiller Dundee Marmalade pot

A very scarce miniature Edwardian James Keiller Dundee marmalade jar. Made of white ironstone pottery and decorated with a detailed under-glaze black transfer.

The smallest size Keiller available, they were often used on the railways in the buffet cars and for catering where single servings were required, hence the moniker ‘Train size Keiller’.

With their increasing rarity, fakes and reproductions (old pots with new transfers) are sadly becoming more frequent to the market.

This example is guaranteed to be original, it is the correct dimensions with the transfer slightly impressed into the face of the pot, along with the impressed Maling pattern numbers to the base of the pot.

Dimensions:

3.8cm diameter

5.3cm tall

Condition:

A perfect example with no damage, there is some light glaze crazing and some light wear and firing imperfections, but otherwise a very clean pot
