Antique White Rose tooth paste square pot lid & base RIGHT POT

A square antique White Rose Paste pot lid and base. Made of white ironstone pottery, the lid is beautifully decorated with a black underglaze transfer that utilises a variety of stylised typography, along with fancy scrolling borders and pinstripe detailing. Produced by S. Maw, Son & Sons of Aldersgate, London, the stylised advertising bills the tooth paste as an “Elegant preparation for preserving and whitening the teeth, purifying and perfuming the breath”.

Condition:
There are a couple of minuscule firing faults on the underside of the rim, but these are barely noticeable and the lid is in perfect, clean condition otherwise.
The matched base has small chip underneath the foot, but is in nice condition otherwise with some roughness around the rim, light crazing and staining.
The lid sits slightly proudly on the rim of the original MAW base, but it is a nice match in colour & wear and displays very nicely.
