Antique Breidenbach & Co. Cherry Paste pot lid and marbled base
A Victorian white ironstone cherry tooth paste pot lid, produced for Breidenbach & Co. - ‘Perfumers and Distillers of Wood Violet’.
A very decorative lid with a variety of stylised bold typography, accompanied by a double pinstripe and scalloped edge border around the edge.
Matched with a marbled antique ironstone base for display.
Dimensions:
7.6cm diameter
4.6cm tall
Condition:
There appears to be some naively painted touch out on the border to the left of ‘Cherry’, however there does not appear to be any repair in the rim and the wear and glaze is consistent, indicating this may have been done at manufacture where the transfer missed.
There is a small fleabite in the outside edge of the flange, along with a small bruise on the underside edge. Otherwise the lid is in nice condition with a small rusty stain spot on the right edge, along with some light wear and glaze crazing.
The matched marbled base has a chip on the rim, along with a further filled chip. There is also a small scrap on the underside of the foot, and a large bruise crack which is stable.
None of these issues overly detract or can be seen when on display and the pot displays very nicely.
