Large antique white ironstone Hot Pot - Ashworth Bros blue transfer

A rare large Victorian white ironstone stewing pot, decorated on the face with bold blue underglaze transfer lettering for 'Hot Pot' - the meat and potato stew originating from Lancashire.

 

A substantial and heavily potted piece, it was manufactured by G.L Ashworth & Bros Ltd. and bears their blue mark on the underside which was used between 1862 - 1891.

20.5cm diameter

10cm tall

Condition:

In perfect condition with light age related wear, marks and small stain spots. There are some glaze firing imperfection marks beneath the POT lettering, along with the tripod marks in the foot from the kiln, but these are not damage and the Hot Pot is in superb, clean condition.
