A small antique white ironstone pot lid, beautifully decorated with a bold black under glaze transfer for ‘Atkinson’s Rose Cold Cream, 24 Old Bond Sreet. Price 1s’.
Produced by James and Edward Atkinson, who were famed for their Bears Grease and ointments for much of the 19thC, this diminutive pot was the smallest size available in this variety and priced at 1 shilling. Utilising the same stylised typography as the iconic bears grease lids, this pot also has a deep interlapping rope, dot and chevron border around the rim.
Matched with an antique ironstone ointment pot base for display.

Condition:
There is a small bruise chip in the flange, along with some further tiny flea bites in one other spot. Otherwise the lid is nice condition with light wear and crazing.
The matched base has a couple of chips on the inner rim, along with a small chip on the shoulder. Otherwise it has some light wear and crazing but displays very nicely with the lid.
