Antique Areca nut tooth paste lid - Commans Bath
A Victorian white ironstone Areca Nut Tooth Paste pot lid and matched base, decorated with an intricate black transfer for the dentifrice which was ‘Prepared only by Commans, Bath’. An attractive and uncommon lid (despite the name!), the transfer utilises a variety of stylised italic and bold typography, along with a dot and pinstripe border around the edge of the rim.
Dimensions:
7.2cm diameter
4.4cm tall lidded
Condition:
There is a tiny scrape under the inside of the rim, along with a couple of miniscule flea bites, but the lid is in perfect condition otherwise and very clean.
The matched base has a couple of small scrapes on the shoulder, along with glaze crazing and an ever so slight greyish hue staining, but displays very nicely with the lid.
