Rare antique ironstone ham stand - W&T Ovens, West Smithfield
A late 19th/early 20thC white ironstone ham stand, decorated on one end with a rare belted roundel transfer for W.T Ovens of West Smithfield, London. E.C.
These chunky ironstone stands were used by butchers and grocers to display and carve a large ham or leg of bone in meat, hence the name ham stand, but they now make for great antique display items, candlesticks, platter stands, centrepieces etc.
A scarce example in lovely condition, with W.T Ovens being among the less commonly seen grocers and butchers outfitters at the turn of the 20thC.
Approx dimensions:
17.5cm diameter
20cm tall
Condition:
Some age related wear, marks and staining spots, but no damage and superb condition otherwise.
