'Daily Wants' flick tab shopping list indicator
A scarce 1920/30's 'Daily Wants' shopping list indicator. Made of laminated tin on card, with red-backed metal tabs that flick back and forth to remind the user of what the pantry is low on. Much less common than similar tab indicators (such as the larger 'household wants' or those that advertised the hygena-cabinet), this variant has scrolling stylised typography at the top and an original Good Housekeeping label on the reverse.
Featuring an extensive list of common consumables of the day, the variety and spellings really speak of a bygone era with it including ammonia, cocoanut, dentifrice, mantles (gas), sago, sweetmeats & Vim.
The label on the back reads: "Tested and approved, serial no. 206, Good Housekeeping Institute, London. Conducted by Good Housekeeping Magazine". These labels are known to be designed and issued in the 1920's/30's to products that met the standards of the prestigious magazine.
14.2cm Wide (5-5/8")
33.5cm Tall (13-1/4")
In very good original condition with only one tab (Lard) missing. Some foxing, wear and usage marks commensurate with age, along with a drilled hole in the middle of the top, but overall very good otherwise.
International customers and combined shipping
International buyers (outside of the UK) - When you add an item to your cart you can select a shipping destination and the postage will be calculated. Usually this is correct, but for multiple purchases and larger items it is advisable to enquire before purchasing, as shipping is based on rough estimates to different regions and may vary to that stated. You may 'buy it now' with the shipping cost calculated, but if this is incorrect we may contact you after purchase. We will either issue a refund for the difference, or request for a remaining postage balance to be paid, either way we will always contact you before any changes are made. Our standard postage costs include tracking where possible and usually require a signature upon receipt, please also include a contact phone number when ordering. Postage to P.O. boxes must be enquired about before purchase as many shippers do not deliver to them.
*Multiple purchases - If you would like to purchase multiple items we can usually combine shipping. It is best to message us first for a shipping quote, but to avoid missing out you can purchase items through the website immediately without paying a shipping fee. Add the desired pieces to your cart, then view your cart and in order summary there is a drop down menu with postage options. Select *Multiple purchases & combined shipping* and the shipping price will be removed. You can now pay for your selected items and we will contact you with a shipping quote to then be paid separately.
